Benjy Davis Project to play free DeLuna Fest Preview show

Tuesday, Pensacola will get a free first look at one of the up-and-coming acts on the bill for DeLuna Fest, the huge two-day music festival set for Oct. 15 and 16 on Casino Beach at Pensacola Beach.Southern alt-rock band The Benjy Davis Project will stop in for a free all-ages concert at Seville Quarter, 130 E. Government St. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday for the 8:30 p.m. show.

Formed in 2001 in Baton Rouge, La., the Benjy Davis Project is touring behind its third full-length album, "Lost Souls Like Us," released in March. The band has toured extensively with acts such as John Mayer, North Mississippi Allstars, Sister Hazel and Better Than Ezra (the latter of which it will again share a bill with at DeLuna Fest).

Representatives from DeLuna Fest and GoPensacola.com will be at the Tuesday night show with giveaways, VIP ticket upgrades and specially priced tickets.

Nick Bodkins, a partner with DeLuna Fest organizers Five Flags Tourism Group, said he and his partners first encountered the Benjy Davis Projects at JazzFest in New Orleans earlier this year, and were immediately impressed.

"We were excited about his music and are excited to get him for DeLuna Fest," Bodkins said. "We can't wait to introduce him to the audience here in Pensacola."
