Coulda been the Champagne

The GoPensacola.com editor, who is sure it wasn't the cocaine • September 3, 2010

Labor Day weekend brings with it one of the biggest party weekends in Pensacola in some time. Can’t find something to do? Check your pulse — you may be dead. The Friday night action starts with hard rockers Cavo performing at Seville Quarter, 130 E. Government St. The concert starts early, with doors opening at 5 p.m., but don’t stress too much if you have to work late: The bill features four other bands, so you should still be able to get to the club in time to see the “Champagne” rockers. Stay after the show for seven rooms of entertainment and drink specials on No Strings Attached night.Everything’s looking irie at Bamboo Willie’s, 400 Quietwater Beach Road, Pensacola Beach, as a Labor Day weekend tradition gets started. The Jamaican Festival and Anything That Floats Bathtub Races start today with plenty of live music (and we’ll bet you can find a Red Stripe or a frozen adult beverage, too). Click here for the entertainment schedule.Capt’n Fun Beach Club, just a bit farther up the Portofino Boardalk, also will be celebrating throughout Labor Day Weekend. The long weekend at Fun begins with a “Back-to-School” video dance party with DJ Tony C starting at 9 p.m.

Heading back downtown, Club Ice makes its debut at 22 Palafox Place, downstairs from Will Call Sports Grille in the former home of the Ready Room. Billing itself as “the coolest place in town,” Club Ice is a Vegas-style club featuring multiple VIP sections, a 50-foot bar and a premium DJ booth with state-of-the-art sound. During the grand-opening weekend, every lady will receive a free drink ticket on Friday, and an ice luge will serve up the Saturday night shots. Want VIP treatment? Call Brooke Davis at 255-4782.

We told you it was a busy weekend! Finally, Los Angeles band La Vie is set to rock The Fish House Deck Bar, 600 S. Barracks St., on Friday and Saturday nights. The shows are free.
