After weeks of voting, GoPensacola.com and TK101 are announcing the finalists in the “Take Your Shot at the Opening Slot” contest to select regional bands to open the GoPensacola.com stage at DeLuna Fest.
Ten Florida bands and ten Alabama/Mississippi bands competed for votes on GoPensacola.com and TK101.com. In Florida, the top three vote-getters were Rumor Mill, Mr. Fahrenheit and Eerie Rockwell. Alabama’s top three were ManDown, Phunk Blue Moon and Crooked Devil.
The finalists in each region will face off in battles of the bands set to take place simultaneously on Oct. 8. Florida bands will compete at Seville Quarter, 130 E. Government St., and Alabama bands will compete at the Soul Kitchen, 219 Dauphin St., Mobile. Winners will be chosen based on crowd response and the rankings of judges from GoPensacola.com, TK101 and DeLuna Fest.
The Alabama winner will open the GoPensacola.com stage at DeLuna Fest on Friday, Oct. 15. The Florida winner opens the GoPensacola.com stage on Saturday, Oct. 16.
DeLuna Fest is set for Oct. 15-17 on Casino Beach at Pensacola Beach. The bill includes 40 national and regional acts including Stone Temple Pilots, Daughtry, 311, Willie Nelson, Bush, Thirty Seconds to Mars and Dierks Bentley. Weekend passes are $90 all-inclusive. Single-day tickets are $47.50 all-inclusive for Oct. 15 or 16, and free for Oct. 17 if picked up locally. Online ticket orders for Oct. 17 only carry a $5 service charge.
