GoPensacola.com Skeeball League is back in session at Play, upstairs at 16 Palafox Place, and 2/3 of the way through the tournament, one team is living up to its name.
The Final Boss has proven hard to beat, leading the standings after four weeks and having won two weeks outright.
However, the team proved to have feet of clay in week four, losing the week to the guys of Ain't Nothing But a Skee Thing.
Rules have changed a bit for the second tournament. All scores are now tallied, so the winner is the team with the most points as rolled by all three players rolling that night. Teams also are allowed two alternates, so the maximum team membership is 5 members, and substitutions are allowed. And it's a shorter tournament this time -- just 6 weeks -- so the competition is tougher, and a really great team could steal this at any given time.
And the overall tournament prizes have received a serious upgrade, too. How serious? We're talking cold, hard cash. And there's a huge trophy, too -- our own version of the Stanley Cup, which will be passed on from tournament to tournament.
With the tournament 2/3 through, a team would have to be spectacular to win the overall prize, but it's not impossible. And even if you can't win the overall prize, you can still win great weekly prizes. This week's winning team's members each received a bar tab from Play.
The games resume at 9 p.m. Monday at Play, and there's still plenty of time to form a team and be competitive. Free practice starts at 8 p.m. We hope to see you there!
