Big Boi, or Antwon Andre Patton, is an American rapper and record-producer who is best known for his work with Andre 3000 in the hip-hop duo, OutKast. HIs stage name, Big Boi, was meant to be ironic, since he was the smallest among his group of friends.

Born and raised in Georgia, Patton met Andre “Andre 3000” Benjamin in high school in the late '80s. They formed the group OutKast and released 6 wildly popular albums as a duo.

In 2003, the two decided to work on solo projects; the two albums were packaged together and released as “Speakerboxxx/The Love Below.” Andre 3000 released the single, “Hey Ya!” and Big Boi released his single, “The Way You Move.” Both songs became instant hits and were in a constant battle for the top of the charts. “The Way You Move” eventually knocked “Hey Ya!” off the top of the list. This is one of the few times in history when a group actually replaced itself on the charts.

Big Boi’s official solo debut was in July 2010 with the release of “Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty,” which was met with respectable sales and reviews.
