DeLuna Fest adds 10 acts

Organizers with DeLuna Fest today announced 10 additional acts for the Sept. 21-23 music festival on Pensacola Beach, including reggae legend Jimmy Cliff, alt-rock godfather Bob Mould and red-hot electronic artist Diplo.

Other acts joining the bill include Trampled by Turtles, Blackberry Smoke, OFF! and Red Kross.

Diplo will headline the festival's late-night entertainment, which also features newly added electronic artists 12th Planet, Paper Diamond and AC Slater.

The new acts join a bill headed by Foo Fighters and Pearl Jam, along with Florence and the Machine, Dwight Yoakam, Band of Horses and about 50 acts performing on four stages on Casino Beach and in the surrounding lot. A third headliner is under contract to the festival, but has not been been announced yet because of contractual obligations.

One of reggae's living legends, Jimmy Cliff rocketed to stardom when he starred in the classic film "The Harder They Come" in 1972. His songs from the soundtrack, including "You Can Get It If You Really Want" and "Many Rivers to Cross," are credited with helping to popularize reggae worldwide. His other hits include "I Can See Clearly Now." Cliff was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010.

As a member of the seminal Husker Du, Bob Mould was at the forefront of the alternative/indie rock scene of the 1980s. The Husker Du influence is indelible on dozens of bands that followed, including DeLuna Fest headliners Foo Fighters. Subsequently, Mould has enjoyed solo success with songs like "See a Little Light," and fronted a second beloved alt-rock band, Sugar. At DeLuna Fest, Mould will be performing Sugar's classic "Copper Blue" album in its entirety.

Diplo, a Philly-based DJ, producer and songwriter, is among the biggest names of the moment in electronic music. A DeLuna Fest veteran, he also recently performed to a packed house at Vinyl Music Hall on a memorable double-bill with Sleigh Bells. A frequent collaborator of M.I.A., they worked together on the Grammy Award-nominated smash single, "Paper Planes." Diplo has also collaborated with such artists as Bruno Mars, Snoop Dogg and Shakira.

In addition to the to-be-revealed third headliner, organizers say more acts will be added to the bill.
