More

“I’m standing here in Virginia, in the rain,” said Kim Nekroman, frontman of the psychobilly group Nekromantix, which plays Sunday night at Vinyl Music Hall, 2 Palafox Place.

Welcome to the glamorous life of rock ’n’ roll. A life on the road and doing interviews in the rain is just part of the gig for Nekroman. His job also includes rocking a coffin-shaped upright bass, playing for diehard fans and knocking off the socks of anyone who has never witnessed a Nekromantix show.

“We’ve been touring with Rob Zombie, and it’s always interesting,” said the Danish-born musician, who started Nekromantix in 1989.

Such is the opportunity for the entire lineup of the Tonight We Unite Tour, a month-long adventure co-headlined by Nekromantix and hardcore punk group The Casualties.

“It’s always amazing when you go out with bands of different genres,” Nekroman said of the punk showcase that also features Down By Law, a punk band led by Dave Smalley, formerly of ALL and Dag Nasty; the working class punk rock of Lower Class Brats; the Celtic punk of Flatfoot 56; and the post ska-core sound of The Sheds.

Local groups Operation Hennessey and Scars & Stripes also will be on the bill. Tickets are $15 in advance at the Vinyl Music Hall box office or online at www.vinylmusichall.com or www.ticketfly.com. That price goes to $20 the day of the show. All ages are welcome, but those younger than 21 will pay a $5 surcharge at the door. Doors open at 5 p.m. For details, visit www.vinylmusichall.com

Unnatural Soundz

Thursday, local groups Unnatural Soundz and Acorns share the stage at The Handlebar. When asked why such a unique pairing, Beav Kenoyer, talent buyer for The Handlebar, replied, “I decided to put Acorns and Unnatural Soundz together because they share a lot of the same fans, despite the fact that their genres are completely different.”

Expect an explosive night as the Mike Patton-meets-Rudy Rae Moore party style of Unnatural Sounds joins the crushing brutality of Acorns.

The show starts at 9:30 p.m. Admission is $5 for ages 21 and older and $7 for ages 18-20.
