Fishbone

It’s hard to overestimate how groundbreaking Fishbone was when the band first burst onto the scene at the dawn of the ’80s. (Page 5 of 14)

Fitz and the Tantrums

With the sweet, soul-drenched single “Moneygrabber,” the L.A.-based sextet Fitz and the Tantrums grabbed the zeitgeist and broke through to radio airplay coast to coast. Florence + the Machine

It’s hard to be sure whether Florence Welch was first noticed by American audiences for her incredible pipes or for the outlandish visuals in her music video for her breakthrough song, “Dog Days Are Over.” But whichever first grabbed attention, it’s that voice that has commanded attention ever since. Performing at 3 p.m. Friday on the Heritage Stage.

Hot 8 Brass Band

Picture a traditional New Orleans brass band. Experience that recognizable jazz sound with the Hot 8 Brass Band, coming to DeLuna Fest from the heart of Cajun country. The band keeps it fresh by mixing in hip-hop and R&B and touts more brass than you can shake a stick at. Performing at 6:30 p.m. Friday on the Heritage Stage.

Joan Jett and the Blackhearts

After bursting onto the late-’70s rock scene as a member of the iconic all-girl rock group the Runaways (“Cherry Bomb”), Joan Jett found even greater success at the head of her own group, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, in the early 1980s. After being rejected by every label in the business, Jett went the indie route and clawed her way to the top with the smash single “I Love Rock ’n’ Roll,” which topped the charts for seven weeks and is still one of the 100 biggest songs in the history of the Billboard charts, some 30 years later. Performing at 12:45 p.m. Saturday on the DeLuna Stage.

Lights Resolve

If you’re craving a sound that’s visceral and screams “this is rock ’n’ roll,” the New York trio behind Lights Resolve has your fix. The Silos

The Silos could have been contenders. In fact, they were. The seminal American roots band was voted Best New Artist by Rolling Stone magazine in 1987, landed a major label record deal at the same time, and seemed on the verge of stardom. But that was never the goal, said Silo honcho Walter Salas-Humara. The Wooly Bushmen

It’s a good-time garage-rock freak out when The Wooly Bushmen hit the stage. The Orlando trio of Simon Palombi (vocals/guitar), Jacob Miller (bass) and Julian Palombi (drums) create a jangly rock sound that would be just as comfortable in a ’50s beach movie as it would be in a modern rock club. Performing at 4 p.m. Friday on the Dock Stage.
