OK, here I am all settled into my seat to watch Pensacola Little Theatre’s cast in a run-through of “The Rocky Horror Show.” This is a true cult classic, and seeing it on stage is even better than watching the movie! Now for some serious critical analysis of ...

Look! There’s Magenta, Columbia and Trixie singing “Science Fiction/Double Feature”! This is such a cool way to open the show and you cannot go wrong with Sarah Peake, Jessica Jensen and Savannah Green in these roles. Okay, stop being a pushover. It’s time to ...

“There’s a fire in my heart and you fan it, Janet. If there’s one fool for you then I am it, Janet. I’ve one thing to say, and that’s dammit, Janet, I love you!”

Dammit, Andy! Stop singing along with the songs and take notes. Okay, Chris Kuhn and Danielle Gilmore are really perfect as Brad and Janet. And look, there’s Walt Steigleman as the Narrator. But ... why do I feel this irrepressible urge to shout something at him? I’ve got to fight this unseemly impulse and ... wait! Oh my gosh! It’s time to drop this clipboard and dance!

“It’s just a jump to the left, and then step to the right. With your hands on your hips, you bring your knees in tight. But it’s the pelvic thrust that really drives you insane. Let’s do the time warp again! Let’s do the time warp again!”

I don’t think I’m bringing my knees in tight enough when I ... get a grip on yourself, Metzger! You’re writing, here. Writing!

What an absolutely superb display of vocal and choreographic artistry on that number. Highest marks to Will Chavers as Riff Raff, Jensen and all of the, um, “interestingly” attired Phantoms as they ... hold on! Frankenfurter has arrived on the set!

“So come up to the lab and see what‘s on the slab. I see you shiver with antici ... pation.”

I love that line! And no one delivers it better than Michael Dennis as PLT’s own Frankenfurter — that “Sweet Transvestite from Transsexual Transylvania.”

Okay, pen in hand. Here we go.

In analyzing the two-level set, I see that ... it’s time to sing again!

“Hot Patootie, bless my soul, I really love that rock and roll!”

Sorry, everyone, there’s just no resisting that old school rocker tune. Nice work by Kip Hayes as the, uh, short-lived Eddie.

And then there’s this truly sensitive moment between Rocky (James Beck) and Janet when she sings “Touch-a touch-a touch-a touch me. I wanna be dirty. Thrill me, chill me, fulfill me, creature of the night.”

If I had to analyze those lyrics and Gilmore’s passionately enthusiastic delivery, I would say ... I would say it’s time to dance again!

“When Eddie said he didn’t like his teddy, you knew he was a no good kid. But when he threatened your life with a switchblade knife, what a guy, makes you cry, and I did.”

Get a grip on your clipboard, Metzger, you’re writing a ... writing a ...

“Don’t dream it, be it; don’t dream it, be it.”

Okay, bottom line — if you’re a Phantom at heart, do not miss PLT’s staging of “The Rocky Horror Show.”

It’s really swell because they have a really swell cast and Musetta Feldman has done a really swell job with the directing.

Assisting Feldman are Diane Queen as music director, Jim Culton as technical director, Joanna Robbins Hayes as choreographer and Katelyn Geri as stage manager.
